DIRECTV vs Xfinity has been an everlasting debate among TV users. Both of them have their perks and dark sides but what exactly makes a difference between the two is the real question. Starting from their prices and the number of channels available, this article will thoroughly do a comparison between DIRECTV vs Xfinity .

Both DIRECTV vs Xfinity are two of the Nation’s Top TV Providers but sadly that knowledge cannot lead to making a choice between the two. Xfinity is a type of cable TV and that is why you get a lot of bundling options and non-premium channels within a single package, whereas DIRECTV provides a lot of popular channels for a competitive upfront price.

Both DIRECTV vs Xfinity have some sort of hidden charges which I know are annoying. The whole purpose of writing this article is to make the choice easy for you and give you a clear picture of their prices, channels, connectivity, contract terms, and all other concerns.

DIRECTV VS Xfinity

DIRECTV vs Xfinity Comparison Guide | Know What to Buy

DIRECTV has the most comprehensive list of channels to let you watch whatever you love. It offers two different services including DIRECTV stream (formerly known as AT&T TV), and DIRECTV satellite.

Xfinity is a cable TV provider having a modest pricing and bundle service as compared to DIRECTV. You get access to almost all the popular channels that you might have watched on Cable TV in the past. Xfinity has two different services targeting different users, namely Xfinity FLEX and Xfinity X1.

DIRECTV Stream Review

DIRECTV Stream is aimed at backpackers or anyone who would love to enjoy a mix of live and on-demand TV. It does not come with any contract which means that you do not have to worry about paying a high upfront price. DIRECTV stream is targeted at providing the most live sports channels than its competitors.

A single subscription to DIRECTV stream can be used to stream your favorite content on all your favorite devices. You also get 3-months premium networks along with your subscription. The subscription ranges between $49.99/mo with 75+ channels to $129.99/mo with 150+ channels. You can pick any package suitable that suits your requirements.

DIRECTV Satellite Review

DIRECTV Satellite is claimed to be the #1 satellite TV service that comes with 99% reliability in terms of its channel connection. In the package, you get a professional dish installation, access to NFL SUNDAY,  a good quality DVR, and again, just like DIRECTV Stream, 3-month premium networks. The subscription ranges between $64.99/mo with 165+ channels to $139.99/mo with 340+ channels. You can pick any package suitable that suits your requirements.

Xfinity FLEX

Xfinity FLEX is a 4K streaming TV box that gives you access to all your favorite streaming apps and selected channels all in one place along with complimentary access to Plus peacock Premium Subscription. The package comes with a 4K streaming box and a beautifully crafted voice remote to give commands and control your TV. Xfinity X1

Xfinity X1 is an on-demand TV service that comes with a DVR so that you can browse your favorite channels without any problem. Xfinity X1 has the most 4K resolution content on their channels available that you can watch anytime. The subscription plans are almost the same as Xfinity FLEX and any of the plans you chose, will attract an extra fee of $21.75/mo named as a broadcast TV fee and $5.15/mo as a regional sports fee which is waived off only from $20 subscription plan.

DIRECTV vs Xfinity | Real-life Review and Comparison

After understanding the basic plans and benefits of the duo, I have reviewed the two and a comparison is done on the basis of price, features, and availability.

DIRECTV vs Xfinity Pricing

In my comparison, I found Xfinity plans to be cheaper than DIRECTV even after adding a broadcasting fee of $21.70/mo extra if you choose to go with their $20/mo plan. However, the list of channels is quite big in DIRECTV as compared to Xfinity in the cheapest plan.

DIRECTV vs Xfinity Streaming

DIRECTV offers some good options for both satellite and streaming services with you will have to pay equipment costs over and above the subscription plan. Xfinity however, doesn’t come with a streaming-only option for live TV, but to make up for the loss, it includes a Peacock Premium subscription with all of its TV plans, at an additional cost of $4.99/mo. Unlike DIRECTV, Xfinity offers you a streaming device for free to all of its internet buyers.

DIRECTV vs Xfinity Installation Fee

Xfinity charges you a one-time fee of $89.99 for the installation of its system which you can opt out of with a $15 self-installation kit sold by Xfinity itself. On the other hand, DIRECTV gives you a free set-top box installation however, additional equipment for receivers will attract a one-time fee of $99.00 each.

DIRECTV vs Xfinity DVR Fee

The good part about Xfinity is that you get a DVR, but the bad part is that you only can connect a single TV with it. For additional connections, you have to buy another DVR and of course, pay extra. DIRECTV on the flip side sends you their first Genie DVR which can be connected to your TV. However, each additional set-top box will attract a fee of $7.00/mo.

DIRECTV vs Xfinity: The Best TV Service

If you are looking for only TV service, I would say DIRECTV has the upper hand. And if you are looking for a bundle of TV and internet, then Xfinity can be a better choice.
