The 6 Saints Row Games in Order of Release

The first Saint Row title was released in 2006; the latest was this year. Let’s read about the Saints Row Games in order of release and the order they’re intended to be played. And be ready for some surprising fun facts!

1. Saints Row (2006)

Saints Row Games in Order [2022]

Saints Row is the first installment of Saints Row games in order, and people were widely expecting it because its pre-beta demo testing had a mind-blowing response.

The game is set in the fictitious city of Stilwater, where you can:

  • Create your own character.
  • Weaken the gangs by controlling each district so they can be taken over by The Third Street Saints that recruit you.

You can accomplish this by completing both main missions and side missions, either solo or in collaboration with your fellow gang members.

Fun, right?

2. Saints Row 2 (2008)

Saints Row Games in Order [2022]

The second title in Saints Row Games in Order builds upon the foundation of Saints Row about five years after the events of Saints Row. This time, you’re the gang’s leader when you revive. You recruit allies to bring the Saints back as dominion.

In the second installment, the story follows the same structure as the first one, so what else is new?

  • Improved the respect system,
  • Addition of varied activities,
  • The increased extent of customizing their character, gang, and vehicles,
  • New vehicle models.
  • It expands the Stilwater setting with locations,
  • Added gameplay features and content!

3. Saints Row: The Third (2011)

Saints Row Games in Order [2022]

For this series, the game marks a major turning point. It focuses more on the following:

  • Comedy
  • Featuring multiple popular culture homages,
  • Parodies
  • Extravagant nature.

The response towards these modifications was mixed, but this third Saints Row Games in Order performed well, regardless.

As opposed to the first two Saints Row Games in Order, you must play missions in a certain order in this game. In addition, the game presents choices in its plot, which means….there are multiple possible endings!

4. Saints Row IV (2013)

What else could Saints Row surprise us with? The fourth of the Saints Row Games in Order does expand on the third’s humor and over-the-top nature, but it introduces superpowers to kick it up a notch.

Set five years after the events of the third part in Saints Row Games in Order, the game begins with you being elected President of the USA after you thwart a terrorist attack. When an alien empire attacks the Earth, you and the other Saints are kidnapped and placed in a simulation of Steelport to break their willpower.

But by manipulating the situation to your own advantage, you gain superpowers. How will you escape and rescue your gang as you face the worst of your enemies and fears?

5. Saints Row: Gat out of Hell: Spin-off (2015)

Saints Row Games in Order [2022]

The game is a standalone addition to 2013’s Saints Row IV, meaning it doesn’t have to be included in Saints Row Games in Order. So, if you want, you can play it without playing the base game

It serves as a follow-up to Saints Row IV and follows certain Third Street Saints fellows as they try to rescue “the Boss” from Hell after they are abducted by Satan.

Though Gat out of Hell was met with mixed reviews from critics for its:

  • Unusual premise,
  • Remarkable setting,
  • Entertaining gameplay,

It was criticized for its short duration, outdated graphics, repetitious side content, and technical issues.

6. Saints Row (2022)

Saints Row Games in Order [2022]

Released in August of this very year, this is the fifth main installment of the Saints Row Games in Order.

Set within the fictional city of Santo Ileso, the story follows a group of four friends who start their outlaw gang called The Saints, which they subsequently expand by seizing power from other criminal organizations in the city. Its world can be navigated on foot or by vehicle.

So it definitely makes for a great fifth Saints Row Games in Order because of its:

  • Single-player story
  • Third-person standpoint
  • Customizable characteristics
  • Various side activities

Fun Fact: Two players can also play cooperatively online while progressing through their own single-player campaign because of the cooperative online multiplayer mode!
