There is an important mission in Hogwarts Legacy called A Bird in the Hand Puzzle. The main purpose of the puzzle is to ask you to find a way through a sundial puzzle that consists of a magical door surrounded by symbols.
In front of the magical door, there is a place where you put the Moonstone, and there are two movable pillars. Once you have reached the magical door, you will have to speak to Dorran the Centaur. After speaking to the Centaur, you’ll be guided toward a door that’s locked.
You will need to insert the Moonstone into the central contraption; the pillars will light up. Your main goal here is to illuminate the images and symbols that are on the door and shift the pillars opposite the symbols on the floor. It is to be noted that in order to move the pillar, you need to use the Accio spell.

Once the pillars are lit, you will need to follow the points mentioned below in order to solve the A Bird in the Hand Puzzle.
- When you see the door, you will see two of the symbols are lit up — the sun and the circle with a dot in the middle and a backward “r” underneath it.
- You need to light up the sun. In order to do that, you will have to move the outside edge pillar to the right of the scythe-looking symbol on the floor.
- Once you are done lighting up the sun, you will need to adjust the other pillar. You will need to adjust it till the time the other symbol glows. The other symbol is the circle with the dot and the reverse “r” – on the door. If done right, the door will open.
If you are not able to open the door, it means you might have accidentally highlighted a very similar-looking symbol. The symbols are quite similar and might get you a little confused, the symbols are similar, but one has a missing dot in the middle of the circle.
