At the World Government Summit in Dubai, he said that ChatGPT is going to be smarter than all its ancestors. He added that ChatGPT 5 will be better than all other ChatGPTs because it is trained to be smarter than all of them. ChatGPT 5 is also rumored to be capable of thinking for itself, but Sam Altman did not confirm anything about it. This makes me wonder if the next ChatGPT version will have AGI integrated.
The possibility of ChatGPT 5 having AGI is too far-fetched, but it would have been much more worth the wait. Expectations from ChatGPT 5 were high and still remain high for some people. But I do not expect ChatGPT 5 to be too much of an upgrade over ChatGPT 4. Of course, ChatGPT 5 has to be smarter and more efficient than its predecessors, but there is no feature announced yet that ChatGPT 5 can do that its predecessor can’t. From what is available yet, ChatGPT 5 is only supposed to be better than other GPTs at providing information and security.
Even though there is no update on when ChatGPT 5 be released, we might determine some things about ChatGPT. Based on information about ChatGPT 4 which was released in late 2023, ChatGPT 5 can be assumed to be released late in 2024-25. As there are still many things ChatGPT 4 is in the development phase, it is safe to assume that OpenAI will not be rushing with the release of ChatGPT 5. Another thing that is sure is that ChatGPT 5 will require users to have access to a premium subscription plan.
