My Spotify Wrapped is Wrong (2023 Wrapped Up)

“WRAPPED.IS.HERE,” tweets Spotify on November 27th, 2023. With the year wrapping up, Spotify has also Wrapped up its users’ stream report. Numerous stories all over social media help users flex their music taste in front of their friends. However, some people get a messed up Wrapped report and can’t share the embarrassment even if they want to. I am one of them. My Spotify Wrapped is wrong, and there is no way I am going to share those results with my friends.

Spotify Wrapped was an amazing new idea when it dropped in 2015. It helped users analyze and summarize their year based on the music streams throughout the year. Not only that but sharing the yearly Spotify Wrapped report became a trend in no time. It was a huge success for the idea as Spotify Wrapped had become a big thing all over the social media platforms. Even competitors in streaming platforms started using the same concept soon enough. 

Later, Apple Music introduced “Replay,” which has the same purpose as Spotify Wrapped. Plus, there is also the option to see Your Recap on YouTube Music. But none of these apps ever got as much hype as Spotify. It has been 8 years since this feature was introduced, yet it has much to improve. As I researched, not just my Spotify Wrapped is wrong, but many other users have faced the same issue. And to all of us, it is annoying.

Why My Spotify Wrapped is Wrong?

In my hunt for answers to why my Spotify Wrapped is wrong with its facts, I found many other people who were annoyed by the same issue. There were some reasons given on different platforms regarding this issue, but there is no official statement from Spotify officials addressing the issue. Some of the reasons for your Spotify Wrapped to be wrong could be;-

1. Algorithm Fault

The algorithm plays a huge role in compiling your Spotify Wrapped reports. Whether your Spotify Wrapped report is inaccurate or accurate, there is not much you can find out about what is confusing the algorithm in your profile. So, if you doubt that the algorithm is the culprit behind the wrong Spotify Wrapped report, you can report it to the Spotify officials.

2. Limited Timeframe 

Nothing was announced for 2023, but in 2022, Spotify announced that only the user stream information from 1 January to 30 October is used while preparing the Spotify Wrapped report. So, it is possible that the algorithm never even considered your latest streams.

3. Multiple Users

Another reason for your Spotify Wrapped-up report to be inaccurate could be that your account is logged in on multiple devices. This can ruin your overall Spotify Wrapped report. It also includes the times when you give your phone over to your friends, and they play songs of their own choice. So check to see if your primary Spotify account is logged in on your personal device only.

4. Hacked

It is less likely for your Spotify account to be hacked, but it is not far-fetched that your account is being used just to give empty streams to some underrated artists and songs. It often happens with less active accounts.

Wrapping Up

Even though there is nothing too interesting about Spotify Wrapped YouTube Music Recap or Apple Music Replay, what matters is the moment we compare our results with our friends and colleagues. But you must have encountered the same situation where you or your friend has been embarrassed by the results. It is still tolerable when those embarrassing results are true, but it is very annoying when you have to face shame because of the other party’s fault. So, if your Spotify Wrapped is wrong and inaccurate, all you can do is report the issue and wait for the report next year.
