South Dakota reports 43 new COVID-19 cases | The Mitchell Republic

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Following are the South Dakota Department of Health COVID-19 case rates, deaths, hospitalizations and vaccinations as of Monday, March 1. Because all data is preliminary, some numbers and totals may change from one day to the next.

Statewide case rates

  • NEW CASES: 43 (seven-day daily average: 160)
  • TOTAL ACTIVE CASES: 1,918
  • TOTAL CASES: 112,470
  • TOTAL RECOVERED: 108,664
  • DAILY TEST POSITIVITY RATE: 16%

Hospitalizations, deaths

  • NEW HOSPITALIZATIONS: 6

  • ACTIVE HOSPITALIZATIONS: 92

  • TOTAL HOSPITALIZATIONS: 6,632

  • DEATHS, NEWLY REPORTED:

  • TOTAL DEATHS: 1,888

The South Dakota Department of Health rarely reports new deaths on Mondays.

Vaccinations

  • INITIAL DOSE ADMINISTERED (if 2-dose vaccine): 223,798, total: 25.6% of population*

  • FULLY VACCINATED: 77,534, total: 13.3% of population

The vaccine dose count is based on state distribution. Population percentage includes vaccines given to South Dakota residents through federal programs, including IHS and VA.
