Local COVID Vaccine Allocation and Distribution Discussion to Occur Saturday | My Iowa Info

Local Covid vaccine allocations and distribution will be the subject of a discussion Saturday morning involving Newton Clinic Administrator Mark Thayer, Jasper County Health Department Administrator Becky Pryor, and State Representative Wes Breckenridge. The Newton Democrat is holding a Virtual Listening Post from 10:30  to 11:30 in the morning. The public can get a link to that Listening Post by emailing Wes Breckenridge at [email protected].

Friday afternoon Jasper County Health Department said there are no available appointments for the vaccine. The two locations in Jasper County, Newton Clinic and Medicap in Newton, are booked. Jasper County is allocated about 500 doses a week, with the focus on vaccinating those 65 and older. Jasper County Health Department also plans to start closed clinics for staff at the schools within the County in the near future.  As of 5p.m. Friday…the state’s COVID-19 tracking website said 3-thousand 865 Jasper County residents have been given the 1st dose of the vaccine, and 852 2nd doses have been administered.
