“Everything that is easy in life is not going to be good and if it is good, it is not going to be easy.”

Good things come to those who are willing to devote their time, energy, efforts and are determined to achieve their target with utmost earnestness. Every exam you give in life should be about your commitment and desire to get through it with not just good score but with “full score.” Always set your aim high and never settle for less.

What is GRE?

To put it simple for you all, The Graduate Record Examination or GRE is a standardized entrance test to get into a graduation school or to secure a merit based fellowship, required by most of the top notch universities/ graduate schools in the US and some of the European countries. Even in countries like India there are some institutions which require a good GRE score for admission.

Established in 1936 by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, this is owned and administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS), making it a sole agency responsible for smooth conduct of the examination.

Unlike the commonly given IELTS and TOEFL examination which is taken to test English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers to work or seek admission in foreign colleges and institutions, this examination is designed to measure and test your higher level skills in mainly three aspects – Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning and Analytical Writing. All these three areas require critical thinking and analytical skills which students generally acquire during their schooling period.

Types Of GRE Test

GRE is a Computer Based Test (CBT), having multiple choice questions. The Quantitative Reasoning section comprises of 40 questions which needs to be done in seventy minutes. The verbal reasoning has 40 questions and the time allotted to complete them is sixty minutes. The analytical writing section is allotted a time period of sixty minutes to analyse an issue or an argument.

This examination is different from your regular examination as you can appear five times in a year for this exam, where you get to decide the date and centre according to your own feasibility. All you need to do is to make an appointment with the closest GRE centre for the same.

However, this could not work in your favour during the peak session which is generally observed between September- December. In such circumstances, you might have to cooperate with the slot allotted to you. GRE gives you a chance to perform better each time you give an exam, making it feasible and flexible to some extent. You can submit the highest score you achieve in it to the universities you wish to opt for.

How Hard is The GRE?

Nothing is easy or hard unless you work for it. I will be conning you, if I say that GRE is all easy-peasy and everyone’s cup of tea. You cannot wait for an apple to fall off a tree when you are hungry, you need to put efforts either by climbing or shaking the bark of that tree or anything of that sort to fetch you an apple if you are genuinely starving.

You will always find a way to fill in your stomach. Similarly, an examination calls for determination, acquisitiveness and your own will towards that particular field which you want to pursue. There will be times where things would not go the way u planned, which in no case should hinder your pathway to success.

All you need to do is keep on working towards your desired ends. Things might seem impossible at first, but always remember there is nothing impossible in the world. There is almost nothing that a man is not capable of doing if he or she wishes for it. If you dream to get through the top colleges of your choice, start working on it.

How To Crack GRE?

Dreams don’t turn into reality unless you do something about making them true. Cracking GRE is all about working hard on your problem areas and striving hard to improve your vocabulary and critical thinking capacity. The goal should not be limited to just fetch good score but it should be broadened to score full marks. If you aim at scoring full marks, then only you will be able to get through it. Always aim high in order to soar high.

You should be clear in your head about the country you want to go, the college you want to apply for and the course you want to pursue before giving the GRE exam. Being head strong about these things would ultimately result in shaping your carrier the way you have always desired for. You cannot give any examination without being prepared for it, if you really want to crack it. It takes sweat, determination and hard work to crack any exam in life and cracking GRE takes no less.

How Long Should You Study For The GRE?

You need to priorities this examination if you really want to crack it. Start from making little efforts by sparing some time exclusively for your problem areas, set a routine and then gradually increase your devotion thereby, making it as your daily habit. By taking smaller steps you will feel confident about the things you want to achieve and consequently you will lead to a bigger outcome. Just keep on working hard and leave the rest on God. I personally believe in working hard and leaving the rest upon God, as we really reap what we sow.

Lastly, I would like to conclude by quoting “if there is a will, there is a way. Similarly, if you are willing to crack GRE, there is probably no force stopping you from getting what you want, provided you are committed at cracking it with conscientiousness and sincerity.
