Surprises all around as Steve Bruce has rested Callum Wilson and given Matty Longstaff a rare start. Both Fabian Schar and Federico Fernandez come back into the team in what looks to be a 5-2-3 with Joelinton leading the line.
Javier Manquillo also returns to the bench as does young Elliot Anderson. It’s a concern that Paul Dummett doesn’t make the squad for the second straight match after his return last week.
Here is who Pep Guardiola will send out for the hosts with Sergio Aguero only on the bench.

Newcastle are coming off a poor run against teams who played in the Championship last season. Now we take on Manchester City at the Etihad. It doesn’t get more difficult than this especially for a team low on confidence.
Now’s the time to put in a shift against the Citizens. A result is unlikely but the lads need to show what they’re made of and put in a performance full of vigor and fight. Hopefully, some of the returning players can inspire this team to do just that.
