The Treasure Valley will soon include three Costco Wholesale stores. Costco Meridian has an opening date.
Just in time for the fourth quarter Christmas shopping season, the warehouse chain will open the doors on its location and Chinden Blvd. and Ten Mile Rd. in N. Meridian. A banner on the store announced it will open for business on Friday, October 15th.
The retailer previously noted online it would open in October, but the signage gives a more specific date.
The retailer first came to the Boise market in 1989 with a store on Franklin Rd. near Boise Towne Square. That location now houses outdoor retailer Cabela’s – the Boise Costco store moved to a new, larger location on Cole Rd. in 2003. It opened a second location in Nampa on Marketplace Blvd.

Now, the Meridian store gives the retailer a presence in a fast-growing portion of N. Meridian and eases access for residents in areas like Emmett, Horseshoe Bend, and other points north.
The store sprouted up quickly, with construction getting underway earlier this year. The store will feature a fuel center on the site, as well as future development areas. It will also sit next to a new luxury apartment complex.
As BoiseDev reported earlier this year, Costco will pay to widen Chinden Blvd. in the area near the site, bringing it to five lanes. Costco will get a rebate on their upfront payment using funds from the State of Idaho’s Sales Tax Anticipation Revenue program. That program allows a developer to pay for infrastructure improvements in advance, then directs a portion of sales tax revenue from the project back to the developer in the form of a rebate.
Thanks, Chad, for the tip!
