Barcelona line-up for La Liga game against Real Betis

Barcelona travel to Real Betis on Sunday as Ronald Koeman’s men try and keep the pressure on league leaders Atletico Madrid.

The Blaugrana are 10 points behind their title rivals after enduring a tough 2020/21 campaign, but the recent form of Antoine Greizmann has given everyone hope of a belated title charge.

Lionel Messi had been almost singlehandedly keeping Barca in the Champions League qualification places before Christmas. However, since the turn of the year, Griezmann has rediscovered the sort of form that earned him his £108m move to the Camp Nou 18 months ago.

The French World Cup winner has bagged six goals and provided seven assists in his last nine outings for the Catalan giants, lifting Barca up to second in the standings and firing them to a Copa del Rey semi-final.

Koeman’s side are currently on a five-game winning run in all competitions and will be full of confidence coming into this. A 5-3 victory after extra time in the cup over Granada last time out may have drained their energy, but the momentum and belief is very much back with the 26-time Spanish champions.

German shot-stopper Marc-Andre ter Stegen will take up his usual residency for the Betis clash, and is likely to be behind a back four made up of Jordi Alba, Clement Lenglet, Ronald Araujo and summer-signing Sergino Dest, who is set to replace the injured Sergi Roberto.

In midfield, the experienced Sergio Busquets will fulfil his usual holding role, flanked by the much-improved Frenkie de Jong and exciting academy graduate Pedri, although Koeman may want to freshen things up in the engine room with either Miralem Pjanic or Riqui Puig.
