BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- On Thursday night, dozens of Western Kentucky University students gathered on campus to remember the anniversary of Breonna Taylor’s death.
This Saturday will mark one year since she was killed in Louisville. Taylor was killed by police in Louisville when they forced their way into her apartment to serve a search warrant. Police and Taylor’s boyfriend exchanged gunfire which resulted in one officer getting shot and another officer facing criminal charges related to the shooting incident that day.
Students started the night off with readings and songs, followed by a chant for Taylor. They then released nearly one hundred purple and white balloons into the sky.
A student WNKY News spoke with said she hopes people don’t forget about Taylor and that they’re not done fighting for her justice.
