Hey, gamers! Is your PS4 disconnecting every single minute? Are you getting trouble playing games? I know this very well because the thing we love the most is to relax our minds. If that starts creating trouble, it hurts a lot. So, based on today’s issue, I have taken a round on various platforms and came to Know: Why Does My PS4 Keep Disconnecting From Wifi?

I have experienced this issue as I am a game lover of the real world. So I believe that PS4 disconnecting issue from Wi-fi is extremely frustrating. Disconnecting PS4 from the network limits the game’s & its basic feature access. The most common error occurring code in PlayStation 4 is WS-37469-9.

Therefore, in today’s post, I will share the reasons for constantly disconnecting PS4 from the Wifi network and the most recommended troubleshooting steps. So, stay tuned before approaching any service guy and save your money.

Why Does My PS4 Keep Disconnecting From Wifi?

I have taken a round on various platforms and came to Know: Why Does My Ps4 Keep Disconnecting From Wifi?

First, I will start with some of the most common reasons that we neglect at the instance but are firmly very important:

1. Weak Networking Signal

Weak Networking Signal

Many times, I have seen weak signals may cause due to keeping the wi-fi router in separate rooms or at the corner stage of the house. Weak Signalling problem also occurs due to interferences as electronic devices are kept in between the router and PS4 path.

2. Unstable Router Connection

Sometimes, we are also unaware of some of the router default settings, so you need to check for the correct firewall settings, DNS settings, and the accurate right frequency. These corrections can give you the correct Wi-Fi configuration and helps to prevent the PS4 Keep Disconnecting From Wifi.

3. PS4 Corrupted Data

PS4 Corrupted Data

For consoling, the PS4’s basic functioning database is an important factor. But, if it gets corrupted, then it may affect Wi-Fi connectivity with PS4. Corrupted data may not clear caches often or sometimes due to downloading heavy files. It will automatically help to prevent the PS4 Keep Disconnecting From Wifi.

4. Outdated PS4 Firmware

Outdated PS4 Firmware

As a player, I can say while playing games, we do not want interruptions, and so whenever a PC shows an update notification for PS4, we often prefer “Later On.” Selecting this can also lead to disconnecting the PS4 from Wi-Fi because you are still using the outdated version.

So, out of these 4 major PS4 disconnecting issues, the most common is a Weak Networking Signal or interference that constantly leads to disconnecting of the PS4 from the Wi-Fi network.

But, now I will guide you with some basic troubleshooting steps that you can consider and easily get rid of from these common PS4 disconnecting occurrences and will help to prevent the PS4 Keep Disconnecting From Wifi.

Easy Troubleshooting Steps to Get Out Of PS4 Wi-Fi Disconnection Problem

Why Does My Ps4 Keep Disconnecting From Wifi

Now, before calling a serving boy, I strongly suggest preferring the below different steps & get free from the PS4 Wi-Fi disconnecting issue and saving our money.

1. Reboot Router & Your Console:

 Reboot Router & Your Console

The first and most basic thing that I believe at the top is that most electronic device issues resolve from rebooting, as it is the most basic occurrence. Therefore, here is a stepwise guide so that you can step out of the PS4 Wi-Fi disconnecting problem easily:

  1. Reboot your router to restart the network, and if you have separate devices, reboot your modem.
  2. To do so, switch off the power buttons (in some routers, they are present in the back), and then you can unplug the wire cord.
  3. Wait for 30-40 minutes.
  4. Now, plug the wire-cord again back in. Make sure, at this time, no other device is connected to the router.
  5. Now, check for the power button in the device and switch it on.
  6. As soon as your network starts working, you can gain your PS4 equipment.
  7. To do so, you need to start with the “Quick Menu,” hence, Press and Hold the Control button for a few seconds present on the PS4.
  8. When the Menu opens up, open the “Power” bar.
  9. Now, select “Restart PS4.”

Note: In the Menu, do not select “Enter Reset Mode” because it is a low-power mode that does not allow to complete shutdown of your device, and the problem may continue.

Now, if your PS4 is not connected or disconnecting constantly, you can follow the next step, which will help you find the exact issue at a 99% level. The steps will help to prevent the PS4 Keep Disconnecting From Wifi.

2. Performing Connection Test on PS4:

Performing Connection Test on PS4:

Connection Test will automatically detect whether PS4 has a stable Wi-Fi connection or not and also finds out the main reason behind the disconnection of the Wi-Fi network from PS4 regularly. To perform this test, follow the guided steps:

  1. On your PS4, go to Settings.
  2. Select Network.
  3. Head to Test Internet Connection.

A short test will run up, and you will be able to see failure or succession for each of the below points separately.

  • IP Address
  • Internet Connection
  • PS network sign in
  • NAT Type
  • Connection Speed (Download)
  • Connection Speed for Upload:

In these pointers, if success comes, all things are fine, and if any point comes with failure, you need to check for the IP address, connection, or sign-in problem.

But in NAT, 3 conditions are:

  • Type 1:  means PS4 is directly connected to the network, which is not the problem.
  • Type 2 informs that PS4 is connected through a modem or a router, which most of you will see and is also a successful connection.
  • Type 3: NAT: Type 3 causes a little instability as it shows that your network can not use all the ports.

From this security check, you can easily get an idea of the exact problem. Let’s find out a little more about fixing poor Wi-Fi networking.

3. Confirming Wi-Fi Details

Confirming Wi-Fi Details

Sometimes, we change our Wi-Fi password or other details and forget to update the PS4 device. This can be detected if your PS4 will not connect with your router by showing a fail for “Obtain IP Address.”

So, in this case, you can follow the below steps:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2.  Select Network.
  3.  Press Setup Internet Connection
  4. Tap on “Use Wi-Fi.”
  5. Now, a few steps will pop up on your window, so start following those.

Make sure to enter the password details correctly, or if you have forgotten better to first check the credentials from your network settings. Follow the below steps:

Third-Party Connection:

You can also go on to change the DNS settings; this will help you get the network from a third party instead of getting your router. Follow the below steps:

1.     Open the DNS Settings screen.

2.     Select Manual.

3.     And enter the details to get the substitute DNS server.

But, at this point, I assumed that many of you might not have the details for an alternative DNS server. Do not worry; I have come up with a solution: What is it? So, I will share the DNS server details of Google’s public DNS.

  • Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
  • Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4

Let’s move to the last step to get the solution if your network lacks connectivity and assists in preventing the PS4 Keep Disconnecting From Wifi.

4. Getting a Strong Connection

Getting a Strong Connection

If your router PS4 is facing a weak connection, then you can do the below-guided steps:

1. Place your PS4 set-up near to the router: First, check the network strength by checking the signal strength. You can check as:

Settings > Network> View Connection Status> Signal Strength.

2. Decrease Interferences: We all know network signal travel through conductors, so in between your PS4 and router, if electrical or electronics are placed, these may also cause interferences.

3. Limitations with other devices: Weak signaling occurs if other devices in your home are using the bandwidth. Hence, try switching off other devices like computers, android TVs, etc.

5. Setting Up The Static IP Address

Setting Up The Static IP Address

I have seen that the IP address we mostly use is Dynamic, but this remains on change because the connections are with the service provider. But, a Static IP address does not change and is considered more stable than a dynamic IP address. So, check the type of IP Connection, and if you are connected with the dynamic, follow the below steps to change it to static.

  1. Go to settings > Network> View connection Status
  2. Note down or take a snap for the IP address, Default gateway, and Subnet Mask.
  3. Go back to the previous Menu.
  4. Tap on Set up internet connection, and select “Use Wi-Fi.”
  5. Press on “Custom” and then “Manual.”
  6. Enter the first 3 numbers of your IP address (3 sections), and select any number from 2 to 255 as our last digits (section).
  7. Now, enter the details you have taken for Subnet Mask and Default gateway.
  8. Choose automatic for MTU settings.
  9. Choose “Do not use a Proxy server.”
  10. Check your internet connection, and start using Wi-Fi now.
