In December 2019, a complaint was filed in a Northern Illinois District court against TikTok and the people of Illinois have been receiving the money in the settlement case.
The case was filed by two mothers of Illinois against TikTok. According to the documents sent to the court, social media platform TikTok, “in a quest for profits, surreptitiously tracked, collected, and disclosed the personal information of people below the age of 13 without their parent’s consent.”
On October 27, many users took to social media platforms to acknowledge that they have received money from TikTok either through PayPal or Venmo. Many of them didn’t even remember submitting the form as it has been over a year since the deadline for the submission has passed.
Can You Still Apply To Claim This?
Since the case is already settled, it means no one can claim this settlement. It is to be noted that settlement money will be disbursed within the next few weeks.
The last date to file a claim was July 24, 2021, and people who had successfully completed the form will receive the payment.
