Phillip Schofield was addressed by a This Morning guest after he referred to concerns about baby Archie’s skin colour among the Royal Family as “dumb comments”.
Phil was responding to an interview with Meghan Markle’s father on Good Morning Britain in the wake of the Oprah interview.
During the bomshell interview, Meghan extraordinarily claimed a member of the Royal Family had confessed concerns over how dark Archie’s skin might be.
But Thomas, her father, said this may have been a “silly dumb comment” on GMB today rather than racism.
Phil said: “What he did say about that comment was that people make dumb comments. That maybe – and this is why I think it is important”
Michelle replied: “Phillip, I just want to say, I want to say, do not dilute racism. It is not racist. It is dumb.”
Phil replied: “That is what I am saying. That is what I am saying. There is no such thing as a dumb comment when it comes to something like that.”
“Yes,” she replied.
Michelle later said: “I hope the country has a lot of compassion for Harry and Meghan and their position. I do not think it is interpretation that Meghan was attacked by the press.
“In the interview, the couple said – they were insinuating anyway – that stories have been peddled about them to protect other members of the Royal Family.
“We have seen stories about Kate and avocados and Meghan and avocados. Somewhere the tide has turned.
“Yet nobody seems to be who is this member of the Royal Family? There are stories about the Royal Family circulated around the world that are not reported here.
“It rings true to me that they were sacrificed to protect other members of the Royal Family.
“We know the trauma Harry has already been through. He is now able to protec this wife. He was too young to protect his mother and this time Harry has decided he is going to change the narrative.”
