ST. CLOUD — A St. Cloud man is suspected of raping a woman earlier this month and killing a dog, according to court records.
Joseph Scott Vogel, 21, was charged with one felony count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. Vogel was also charged in a separate case with one felony count of mistreating animals in connection with killing a dog in August.
According to the criminal complaint against Vogel, officers responded to a report of a rape on Oct. 5.
A woman told officers that Vogel raped her Oct. 4 at a residence in St. Cloud.
The woman had been seeing Vogel romantically for about one week, according to the complaint. On the evening of Oct. 4, the woman told officers they were making out in the bedroom, according to the complaint, when Vogel tried to pull down her pants.
The woman said she repeatedly tried to pull her pants back up and push the defendant off. According to the complaint, Vogel raped the woman and also forced her to perform oral sex on him.
Vogel told officers he had consensual intercourse with the woman. When an officer asked him if the woman ever told him no, Vogel said she did “but I always backed down,” according to the complaint.
Vogel also told officers he was a “satyromaniac” and “she knew it was hard for me to stop,” according to the complaint. “When things did start escalating, it was like okay … I’m gonna try and calm down here, try and get off of her, you know,” according to the complaint.
A second criminal complaint filed in Stearns County Court said in August, officers investigated a report of a deceased dog who appeared to have its throat cut.
Vogel admitted he killed the dog because it killed two cats, according to the complaint. Animal Control received notice the defendant got a new pet cat Monday, according to the report, and the state requested a warrant for Vogel.
Vogel is scheduled to make his first appearance in both cases Friday, according to court records.
