ST. CLOUD — A 26-year-old St. Cloud man is accused of repeatedly punching a woman in the head and threatening to kill her, according to a criminal complaint filed Dec. 4 in Stearns County District Court.
Tyrese Tyrell Montre Jefferson was charged with two felony counts of domestic assault and one felony count of threats of violence.
According to the complaint, police responded to a domestic assault complaint Nov. 25 in St. Cloud.
A woman told police Jefferson punched her at least 30 times — and even after she went into the fetal position to protect herself, Jefferson continued to punch her in the head.
The woman said Jefferson bit her hand, breaking skin in two places, and told her “he would kill her, and that he could kill her if he wanted,” the complaint states.
After the assault, Jefferson reportedly started throwing things and stabbed the TV with a pair of scissors.
Jefferson fled the residence before law enforcement arrived; a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Jefferson was convicted on one felony count of fifth-degree assault in Hennepin County in 2018 and on one felony count of first-degree property damage in Ramsey County in 2019.
Jefferson turned himself in to Stearns County Jail on Tuesday.
After a Wednesday hearing, Jefferson was released with conditions he stay away from the victim and comply with a domestic abuse no-contact order.
Jefferson’s next hearing is scheduled for Jan. 7.
