Saudi Airports to resume international flights normally from 17th May – GACA

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) in Saudi Arabia has confirmed that 17th May will be the date for the resumption of all international flights and completely opening of airports across the Kingdom.

The GACA in its circular informed to all the airlines operating from Saudi airports about the change of allowing Saudi citizens to travel abroad, as well as lifting the suspension of all international flights and the opening of Saudi Arabia’s airports.

– The GACA highlighted the need to stick to the preventive protocols and precautionary measures as well as the instructions issued by the concerned higher committee in this regard to curb the spread of Covid-19 pandemic in Kingdom.

– The implementation of the decision to allow travel and return would not be applicable to countries that the committee decides to suspend travel or return due to the spread of pandemic.

– The move to extend the date was due to the importance of reaching high levels of community immunity in Saudi Arabia before travel is permitted, in light of possible 2nd wave of the pandemic in many countries and in the interest of public health in Saudi Arabia and to maintain low infection rates.
