If Elvis Presley is King, then that makes Priscilla Presley Queen. Known for her classic style, Presley is one of the greatest examples of mid-century fashion. Priscilla met Elvis in her teens. The connection was under strict supervision and the pair were chaperoned all times, but in 1967, the 31-year-old heartthrob and 21-year-old Priscilla wed and she quickly became one of the most famous women in the world.
With thick lashes, her beehive and eyeliner, Priscilla was a style icon. For her wedding to Elvis, she wore a silk chiffon gown with sleeves and a beaded neckline. Her hair was worn and high eyeliner on-point. The apparel of Presley is one of the wedding dresses in history.
Priscilla went on to define a new look for the decade, although Priscilla and Elvis divorced after six decades of marriage in 1973. As she experimented with new appearances dying her hair red, then blonde, gone was the signature beehive.
In the mid-seventies, Presley starred in several movies that were high-profile throughout the eighties and opened a clothes boutique.
In the mid-2000s, Presley starred with Tori Spelling in a Jeremy Scott ad campaign. Presley’s early looks have been imitated by Lily Collins by Lana Del Rey and, more recently. Collins showed up for this year’s Met Gala serving the Priscilla realness of 1960.
We take a retrospective look at the top style moments of Priscilla.
