Poll – How Will Newcastle Do At West Brom On Sunday? – The Newcastle United Blog

Life without the trio of Miguel Almiron, Allan Saint-Maximin, and Callum Wilson starts on Sunday at the Hawthorns against West Brom. What Bruce is thinking on team selection is a mystery at this point. Even if he can continue with the recent system without such key players is uncertain.

Whatever Bruce decides to do, this match’s significance can’t be downplayed. Fulham invite Tottenham to Craven Cottage tomorrow, and if they win they’ll jump us in the table and stay there if Newcastle don’t pick up a result.

West Brom take on Everton at home tomorrow before the Newcastle match. So they could move to within six points with a win against the Toffees tomorrow. Even today’s matches haven’t gone our way with Sheffield picking up a win against Aston Villa and Burnley getting a good point at home to Leicester City.

If ever Newcastle needed three points, it’s on Sunday at West Brom. If that’s to happen, some unlikely heroes need to step up. We’ll be without our front three, and possibly both right-backs depending on the availability of Javier Manquillo and Emil Krafth.

This is a time for someone to take their chance. There’s plenty of fringe players in this squad who would relish an opportunity for glory on Sunday. Hopefully, we’ll see a Magpie or two rise to the challenge.
