Newcastle finish off a very tough week with a team that have had our number lately. Leicester City won all three matches last season, including the two in the league by a combined 8-0.
The Foxes have been outstanding in their away fixtures this season with a record of 6 wins, 1 draw, and only 1 defeat, which was at Liverpool. They are also 3rd in the Premier League after finishing in the 5th spot last season.
Newcastle will hope to carry the momentum from the unexpected draw against Liverpool into this match. It’ll be mostly the same squad, with the exception of Isaac Hayden, as Steve Bruce confirmed during his press conference that none of the injured or fatigued are ready to return.
We expect Bruce to keep with the 5-4-1 system he used at Manchester City and against Liverpool. The plan will be to limit chances and try to hit Leicester on the counter.
The point on Wednesday pushed Newcastle up into 14th place. We’re still well behind Bruce’s stated aim of the top ten. With West Ham’s win on Friday, they are on 26 points so we really need to pick up a result on Sunday.
