Piers Morgan is getting “vile and abusive” death threats from “teenage girls”.
That is the claim of Piers’ son Spencer, who took to social media to voice the backlash Piers was receiving in the wake of his Good Morning Britain departure.
55-year-old Piers walked away from the show earlier this week having refused to apologise on-air amid a furore over his comments about Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex.
Piers, 55, rowed with Alex Beresford after declaring he “did not believe a word” of the Duchess’ suicidal thoughts during her time with The Royal Family.
After storming off the set, Piers’ departure was confirmed following conversations with ITV bosses in the wake of an Ofcom storm.
41,000 viewers had complained to the broadcasting watchdog over the chaotic segment.
Spencer has spoken out about the messages that his dad has received online.
He said: “To be specific it’s early teenage girls.
“The ones who ‘stan’ stuff and have s**t like One Direction in their bio. Sending death threats etc, you name it. Poor kids – hope they get help.”
He then added: “What’s also become clear is it’s the brainwashed young are the most vile and abusive on Team Woke. Their parents must save them.”
Spencer had earlier this week posted a simple tweet of support, telling followers he was “Team Piers forever.”
He also accused Alex of using the chaotic row to boost his own career.
Ofcom is yet to offer a further update on the investigation into Morgan’s controversial comments.
