OSRS Sleeping Giants Quest Guide

OSRS Sleeping Giants Quest Guide

Giants’ Foundry is a recently added smithing method in Old School RuneScape. While in the Giants’ Foundry you can participate in a minigame. This minigame will have you smithing and creating giant-sized weapons for Kovac, who is also a giant. You will be forging these weapons so the Giants can use them. In doing so, you will gain Smithing experience along with a little bit of OSRS gold. However, before you get full access to the Giants’ Foundry, you will have to complete a quest.

Sleeping Giants is a quest and prerequisite for gaining access to the Giants’ Foundry. This quest is short and easy. There is no combat in this quest either, so even if you are low level you can still complete this quest relatively easily. However, the quest does require you to have your Smithing at least 15.

Now that we got the introduction out of the way, let’s go step by step on how to complete this quest quickly.

Part 1: Repairing

The first part of the quest is simple. You will need to repair the workshop a little bit. Before starting the quest make sure to have the following items on hand:

  • 3 Oak Logs
  • 1 Wool
  • 10 Nails
  • 1 Hammer
  • 1 Chisel
  • 1 bucket of water or Ice Gloves

Giants’ Foundry has a chest there as well that grants access to your bank. Just in case you forgot to bring any items that were listed. Once you have all of those items on hand, travel to Giants’ Plateau and speak to Korvac the Hill Giant. Next enter the Giants’ Foundry. You will need to repair three machines: the polishing wheel, grindstone, and trip hammer. After fixing all of the machinery you will want to speak with Kovac.

That’s it for the first part of the quest, easy right? Now you will be moving on to the second part of the quest. The next part will require you to make a sword fit for a Giant. Luckily, the next part works as a tutorial of sorts for the minigame you will be doing to increase your smithing. Just follow the steps and you will complete this quest in no time.

Part 2: Making A Sword

This part will require you to make a sword. It’s a quick and easy interactive minigame. Learn it well, because you will be using this to increase your XP for Smithing and gain a little bit of OSRS gold on the side. Before we start the minigame though, we have to take care of some small things first.

First, you will need to make a mould of the sword. You can find some items near the exit/entrance of the cave. Use them on the Foundry crucible to melt down the metal. Continue with the quest by talking to the giant. He will then ask you to create the mould for the weapon. Simply go to the Mould jig and match the mould with the commission that was asked for. For example, your Forte part for the sword might have Broad 4, Light 4, and Flat 4.

If the commission asks for a flat broad sword, then you have what you need. The other two pieces don’t matter too much, not for this quest anyway. Speak to Korvac, then pour the hot liquid metal into the mould jig. Go grab a bucket of water and pour it into the mould jig and get ready for the fun part.

Part 3: The Minigame

To finish making the sword you will have to do a small minigame, it can be a bit confusing at first, but it will make much more sense once you do it one time. You will need to run back and forth between machines and areas to heat, cool, and increase the quality of the weapon. You will be using the three tools that you repaired earlier in the quest. Once you reach the end of the minigame, which is when you are done with the last tool, you can go and speak to Korvac to receive your quest rewards. Conclusion

Now you are done. That’s all there is to it. This quest can be completed quickly enough so you can start having fun creating weapons in the Giants Foundry. It isn’t the most effective way to get OSRS gold and XP per hour, but it is one of the easiest. You don’t have to worry about trying to craft weapons with rare components. Most of the components for smithing weapons for Giants can be found and purchased at the Giants’ Foundry.
