ONE YEAR ON: ‘Heroes’ of 2019 floods remembered with commemorative plaque on Spain’s Costa Blanca – Olive Press News Spain

ON the anniversary of the 2019 DANA that devastated parts of the Costa Blanca region, the ‘heroes’ that came forward to help and save lives have been remembered.

The town hall of Almoradi, which was massively hit by the storms and subsequent flooding over the weekend of September 14 and 15 last year, unveiled a plaque at its ‘ground zero’, where the Segura River broke its retaining walls and overflowed into the city.

They all emphasised the importance of both remembering the damage caused and working towards flood-prevention solutions to avoid such catastrophes in the future.
