Midfielder reveals Wolves ruled out loan transfer in summer window

Young Wolves midfielder Meritan Shabani has revealed that the club decided to keep him at Molineux this window, despite interest and offers to take him on loan from elsewhere.

Shabani arrived at the club from Bundesliga and European champions Bayern Munich in the summer of 2019, but he suffered an unfortunate ACL injury in September – in the Carabao Cup clash at Reading.

Shabani shared videos on his social media accounts of him running regularly again back in March, just as lockdown began. The idea of getting him out on loan and ensuring he got regular minutes under his belt might’ve been tempting for Wolves, but the player himself has revealed that it was the club who decided that he should remain.

“I know about the interest of various clubs that were interested in a loan,” he said, via Sport Witness.

“However, the club has put in a clear veto. I should stay here and recommend myself for higher tasks because the team also has a lot of games in a short time.

“It will be seen whether a loan can make sense in the future. At the moment, however, I am fully concentrating on the tasks here.”
