A man has died after his car hit a tree in Birmingham on Friday.
The incident happened just before 6am today (November 20) in Moseley.
His car crashed into a tree at the junction of Wake Green Road and Yardley Wood Road.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 5.56am and found him critically injured in the vehicle.
Ambulance crews said, at this stage, he appeared to have suffered a medical emergency whilst driving.
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “A man has sadly died, after a single vehicle RTC in Birmingham this morning.
“We were called at 5.56am on Friday to reports a car had hit a tree at the junction of Wake Green Road and Yardley Wood Road in the Moseley area of the city.
“We sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the MERIT emergency doctor and critical care paramedic to the scene.
“When crews arrived hey found one patient, a man, who was believed to have suffered a medical emergency whilst behind the wheel.
“The MERIT team worked quickly to administer advanced life support to the patient who was in a critical condition. But sadly, despite best efforts, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
The road junction was closed for several hours whilst police accident investigators collected evidence and information from the scene.
Witnesses are being sought and anyone with information is asked to contact West Midlands Police on 101.
