While there have been no official announcements from Rockstar Games about the development of Grand Theft Auto 6, leaks and rumors have been pouring in on the internet about the possible GTA 6 title.
Rockstar Games is known to hide clues for its next title games, such as the reference of Red Dead Redemption 2 in GTA 5 and the latter’s clues in Red Dead Redemption. And so, it’s very much likely that the clues for GTA 6 will be found in Red Dead Redemption 2.
And with the recent discovery of a major Easter egg teaser that has been found in the latest Rockstar Games’ title, Red Dead Redemption 2, the hype for the next installment of the Grand Theft Auto series has become more real than ever.
Read along with the article as we disclose all the major leaks, rumors, and speculations regarding the map setting, protagonist character, and a possible release date of the Grand Theft Auto 6 in the GTA game series.
Latest Leaks and Updates from Red Dead Redemption 2
A YouTuber named Strange Man with an impressive 250K+ sub-count shared a never before noticed tease of GTA 6 in the Red Dead Redemption 2’s gameplay. According to his discovery, there is a skeleton of a Jesuit missionary that can be found southwest of Gaptooth Breach and east of the Sea of Coronado in the open world of Red Dead Redemption 2.
So, what’s with the skeleton, you ask? Well, if you carefully examine the skeleton, you’ll find a letter written from one, Cardinal Blanco addressed to Brother Rodolfo. And according to Strange Man’s analysis, this letter is the hidden message regarding Grand Theft Auto 6.
If we’re to believe Strange Man’s take on the letter, Cardinal Blanco (the letter’s author) represents former Rockstar Games’ writer Dan Houser, and so, Brother Rodolfo is more than likely meant to be Sam Houser.
The content of the letter centers around Blanco trying to talk Brother Rodolfo out of traveling East in order to stay back in California. While, here “east” possibly represents the new GTA 6 setting which is rumored to be the Miami-equivalent, Vice City (more on that ahead), “California” is a clear reference to GTA 5’s California-based Los Santos setting.
Further explanations from Strange Man regarding the letter’s other language point towards the behind-the-scenes situation of GTA’s current and future plans. According to the YouTuber, the text interprets Sam Houser’s willingness to move from GTA 5 onto other new projects; and the Rockstar Games parent company, Take-Two’s persistence with the fifth-gen series as Grand Theft Auto 5 still makes tons of profit.
This is evident with the Grand Theft Auto 5 next-gen that’s set to be released this year which clearly indicates towards Take-Two having more interest in the GTA 5 series.
As for the protagonist character, Strange Man points over to the name Blanco (from the letter’s author, Cardinal Blanco) which could be related to the Columbian drug lord, Griselda Blanco. Accordingly, it can also be a hint at the Grand Theft Auto 6 protagonist being Columbian which is something that has been rumored for quite some time now.
So, Is it a make-believe story? Well, considering how fans are going crazy over the leaks and teaser, the evidence and explanation provided by Strange Man suggest a compelling case for it to be a real clue for GTA 6.
Grand Theft Auto 6 Might Feature a Female Protagonist
In addition to the Columbian protagonist theory, there are other rumors that suggest a female character will be featured in the next installment of the Grand Theft Auto game series, as one of the two playable in-game characters.
While none of the main game series from Original GTA to GTA 5 (except GTA online) feature a female playable protagonist, the addition of one in GTA 6 will certainly make the Grand Theft Auto series much more interesting.
Rumored Map Setting for GTA 6
With plenty of rumors and speculations about the Grand Theft Auto 6 map having been surfaced over the years, here are some potential leaks about the same.
According to multiple reputable sources, the Grand Theft Auto 6 map is said to be an evolving one just like Fortnite’s battle royale map. Though its reception to the fans is going to be a big factor, if things turn out well, this could definitely boost the game’s replay value.
Apart from being an evolving map, as per consistent rumors and even the teaser from Red Dead 2, the main setting of GTA 6 is believed to be Vice City. Given how Grand Theft Auto 4 used Liberty City and GTA 5 used Los Santos, Vice City makes a plausible setting for Grand Theft Auto 6.
Possible Grand Theft Auto 6 Release Date
While fans have been long waiting for the next installment of the GTA series, unfortunately, multiple leaking sources agree that a GTA 6 title won’t be released for years. The common belief among leakers is that the game is in the initial stages of development and its release won’t be happening until 2024 or 2025 and that is still rumored as the earliest possible release date.
Though the wait is definitely a sad part of the journey, whenever Grand Theft Auto 6 gets revealed, it’s, undoubtedly, going to be a huge event in the gaming industry.
With this, it’s now time to wrap up the article on the major leaks and teasers for Grand Theft Auto 6. From its possible Columbian protagonist to Vice City as the main map setting, the Easter eggs from Red Dead 2 definitely brought in more hype for GTA 6.
