Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko became the first African side to play guest to English side Crystal Palace at the Selhurst Park in an international club friendly in summer of 1969.
According to a 1969 publication sighted by Ghana Sports Online the club which was founded in 1935 became the first side to wear football boots in Ghana to play a game.
Kotoko got invited to the United Kingdom to play against Stoke City and Crystal Palace after humiliating the former 3-1 in a friendly game in Ghana the season before.
The Kotoko line up that evening featured Botwe in between the sticks, Ben Kusi, Oliver Acquah, Berko, Iddi, Ibrahim Sunday, Osei Kofi, Kwame Nti, Malik, Ofnanu and Oliver Stephens.
