Kevin Costner Can’t Say If Pa Kent Returns In Justice League Snyder Cut

Jonathan Kent has appeared in Zack Snyder’s previous DCEU movies, but Kevin Costner won’t say if Pa Kent will be in the Snyder Cut of Justice League.

Kevin Costner won’t say if he’ll return as Jonathan Kent in Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League. Years after exiting the project following his daughter’s death, Snyder has returned to the DC Extended Universe to complete his version of Justice League. Warner Bros. overhauled his vision through reshoots before the film’s 2017 theatrical release, but Snyder has been given the chance to finish the story as he planned. The Snyder Cut of Justice League will be a four-part miniseries available exclusively on HBO Max in 2021.

Snyder will change many aspects of Justice League back to what he intended with this new version. In addition to more of Snyder’s usual flair, this will also include adding back in several characters that were cut previously. The trailer for the Snyder Cut already featured Darkseid, his henchman Desaad, Cyborg’s mother, and Iris West, but they are just the beginning. Snyder has already confirmed that Ryan Choi, Vulko, and more will be featured in his cut. Some fans have wondered if Jonathan Kent will return in some fashion too.

During a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Costner was asked about the possibility of him showing up in the Snyder Cut of Justice League. Costner’s involvement with the Snyder Cut has not been teased by Snyder in the past, leading Costner to give a very vague answer about whether or not he’ll be seen. He said, “I don’t know. You don’t want to be kissin’ and tellin’ in life. You’re pokin’ me a little bit. I’m not… I can’t tell you.”

Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent in Man of Steel

Costner’s Pa Kent played a huge role in Man of Steel, where he died during a tornado when he refused to let Clark use his powers to save him. This proved to be one of the more controversial moments in Man of Steel, but it wasn’t the last time Jonathan was seen. He returned in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as a vision to Clark. With Snyder already getting creative to find ways to keep Costner involved and the actor’s non-answer about his return, it won’t be too surprising if he’s included in Justice League.

The potential for Costner to return as Pa Kent in Justice League

is intriguing. Even though many elements of Justice League will change under Snyder, Superman being dead for most of the story will not change. As Clark begins to remember who he is after he is resurrected, perhaps that is when a Costner appearance could happen. We know he visits the Kryptonian scout ship to get his black suit and goes back to Kent farm, so part of that journey could include another post-mortem chat between father and son. In any case, it won’t be too long before the Snyder Cut of Justice League starts streaming and fans will be able to see for themselves whether or not Costner is in it.
