Juventus have been boosted in their bid to chase down Serie A leaders AC Milan as the Italian champions beat modest visitors Bologna 2-0 to go fourth in the table.
Milan lost 3-0 at home to Atalanta on Saturday but Juventus’s win on Sunday takes them to within seven points of the leaders at the halfway point of the season, while they also still have a game in hand.
The champions also profited from second-placed Inter Milan’s draw at Udinese on Saturday.
The Bianconeri started briskly in Turin and found a lucky opener when a shot from Brazilian Arthur was deflected into the net by Jerdy Schouten.
Juve winger Federico Bernardeschi missed twice in the box before a Juan Cuadrado shot wide.
Bologna upped the tempo and forced a couple of saves but American Weston McKennie nodded in a corner kick in the 71st minute to seal the home win.
