Joanna Page has explained how lockdown wrecked her sex life and drove her marriage to the brink of collapse.
The 43-year-old Gavin and Stacey star has been married to 45-year-old actor James Thornton since 2003 and together they have three children; seven-year-old daughter Eva, five-year-old son Kit, and four-year-old son Noah.
During lockdown and with the kids unable to go to school or nursery, Joanna and James found they had no time to themselves.
Being unable to be intimate took a toll on their romance, with the couple arguing, threatening to split, and giving the silent treatment.
Speaking to The Sun, Joanna explained: “We spent the whole of the first lockdown arguing and threatening to divorce each other.
“Then we went through a month of literally not saying a single word to each other.”
She went on to say that she and James feel “numb” when the first lockdown ended in July and they found themselves cramming in sex sessions before it was time to pick up their kids from school.
Reflecting on the difficult period of lockdown, Joanna explained that she found herself literally surrounded by her kids at all times.
She recalled: “At night-time one wanted to lie on that side holding that boob, the other one wanted to lie on this side holding this boob and then my third little one just wanted to lie down the whole of my body.
“So I was there going, ‘Oh my God, please, I just want a bit of space’.”
When schools reopened, the couple managed to fall for each other again – with Joanne saying she learned to “fancy” husband James once more.
She previously said during an interview last month that she found herself unable to resist her husband when spotting him doing topless gardening back in the last sunny days of summer.
She said: “He was doing some weeding, bare-chested and wearing just a pair of tracksuit bottoms and I just looked at him and thought: ‘Ohh I haven’t fancied him as much as this in ages!’
“So I said: ‘Right, get upstairs, we have an hour before I have to get ready to pick up Noah so we’re going to have sex!’ We’re practical about it these days, there’s little romance. And obviously he was straight up the stairs so we managed that fine!”
