Texas Governor Greg Abbott has unveiled the plan to ban TikTok across the state. The move comes after the December order to crack down on the use of the TikTok app.

TikTok is all set to get banned in Texas on the state government-issued devices and networks. The ban on TikTok across Texas will prevent using of TikTok state-issued devices, including cellphones, laptops, tablets, and desktop computers. 

A statement from Abbott said, “The security risks associated with the use of TikTok on devices used to conduct the important business of our state must not be underestimated or ignored.”

He further added, “Owned by a Chinese company that employs Chinese Communist Party members, TikTok harvests significant amounts of data from a user’s device, including details about a user’s internet activity.” 

The state will work till February 15th in order to make sure to implement policies that will support the statewide ban on TikTok. It is to be noted that Greg Abbott is a Texas Governor who is among one Republican politicians to issue a ban on government devices including in Ohio, South Dakota, and Maryland.
