Still didn’t get it? Don’t worry! Below you will find the complete step-by-step guide to complete these steps with ease.

But firstly, let’s know about your Rubik’s Cube as these are available in many variants. If you have a 2X2 cube, there will be two layers i.e. Top layer and the Bottom layer. So now, you need to solve Rubik’s Cube 2X2 in the layers and not as a whole. But how to do that? Let’s find out the steps below.

How to Solve Rubik’s Cube 2X2?

Ready to master the art of solving Rubik’s cube? Let’s begin with naming the different parts of the cube to make it easy to understand the directions later on.

Face: The flat surface on a 2X2 Rubik’s cube is known as a face. It is simple, no. of different colors is equal to the faces. Thus, a Rubik’s cube has 6 faces. The one at the top is Up face while the face at the bottom is the Down one.

Now as you got to know about your cube and understand the basic terminologies, it’s time for you to get familiar with the following codes, which we will use later on in the steps to solve Rubik’s Cube 2X2. These are:

  • Each face is represented by an Alphabet.
    • U= Up Face
    • D =Down Face
    • L= Left Face
    • R= Right Face
    • F= Front Face
    • B= Bottom Face
  • 1 move = ¼ TURN.
  • There are two algorithms.
These two are important to the FRONT face of your Rubik’s Cube so it stays at the FRONT through all of the turns be it the Right-hand or the left hand.
  • The direction of spin can be clockwise and anticlockwise.
  • You need to know about the 4-move sequence that is:

Steps on How to Solve Rubik’s Cube 2X2?

It is more precisely the step to solve the 1st and the 2nd corners. To begin with, the steps, hold your cube in such a manner that the white tile is at the bottom facing the floor.

Step 1: White Layer at the Bottom

Find any white piece, and hold the cube so that white faces the bottom. This solves the first piece of the white layer. But, it is not enough!

Now you have to use the 4-move sequence.
As only one of the white at the bottom, You need to replace the other tiles with the white ones. Keeping the cube in the same manner, look for the other white tile in the top layer.

Now check, if the newly located white tile shares a color with the white tile at the bottom? If yes, then this piece belongs next to the solved piece.

But if they have different colors, then it belongs to the diagonal position. Turn the top layer and let the white come to lie as the diagonal to the previous one. To do this, you need to turn the top layer so that the new piece is directly above where it needs to go and face it so that it’s on the front/right.

When the new piece is on the front, use the 4 moves technique and keep on repeating, till the piece is solved i.e comes next to the previous.

Check if the cube has two colors on the piece that matches the nearest colors in the bottom layer. In case, there are

  • No piece is correct, turn the top layer to get at least 1 correct.
  • 1 piece is correct, hold it in the front/right.
  • 2 pieces are correct
(next to each other), turn the top layer so that only 1 is correct.
(across/diagonal from each other), hold any piece in the front/right.
  • 4 pieces are correct, you are done with this step!

Now follow:

  • Turn the top with your right hand, then turn the right side up.
  • Turn the top with your left hand, then turn the left side up.
  • Repeat, but go down instead of up.

Are all the 4 pieces correct now? If not, check how many are in the correct place and repeat from the beginning to get it done.

This step might seem tricky but we are here to guide you at each step. To solve the cube, turn the cube in such a position that all the unsolved tiles are placed at the bottom layer.

Now check, if you have 2, 3, or 4 unsolved pieces? Got the number, now follow the 4 move sequence and keep on repeating it, until the yellow is at the bottom. When done, turn the bottom layer in a way that all the unsolved pieces appear to the front/right. And keep on repeating the following:

  • Repeat 4-movies
  • Turn the bottom
