Florida new weekly unemployment claims fall in second-to-last week of 2020

The number of new unemployment claims in Florida dropped during the second-to-last week of December compared to the prior week.

A total of 23,053 new claims were reported for the week that ended Dec. 26, down 19.42% from 28,609 in the prior week, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The state’s highest total in a single week in 2020 was for the week ended April 18, with 506,670 new claims.
