FCC Commissioner Asks to Remove TikTok
In the recent turn of events, Federal Communications Commission’s Commissioner Brendan Carr has called to ban TikTok in the U.S. Carr took Twitter and shared the letter he sent to Apple CEO Tim Cook and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai. The letter asks the tech giants to remove TikTok from their respective App stores.
The reason to call for the ban of TikTok is concerned with the app’s data security. In a tweet, Carr said, “TikTok is not what it appears to be on the surface. It is not just an app for sharing funny videos or memes. That’s the sheep’s clothing. At its core, TikTok functions as a sophisticated surveillance tool that harvests extensive amounts of personal and sensitive data.”
TikTok Vs. U.S. Government
