Facebook is again in the news and this time, it’s not for some controversy. Luckily, the news will bring more audience to the multi-billionaire tech giant brand. So, what is the actual news, if Facebook really changing its brand concept? Let’s cover all aspects of the latest news.
Facebook is about to change its official name and the new name will focus on the broader aspects of Facebook. Till now, Facebook has been a major social media platform. But that is going to change from next week. The CEO Mark Zuckerberg is planning to bring forth the name-changing plan at the annual Connect conference which is happening on 28 Oct 2021.
In July 2021, Mark Zuckerberg told Verge, “We will effectively transition from people seeing us as primarily being a social media company to being a metaverse company.” But what is the new metaverse? What exactly is going to change in Facebook?
Why is Facebook Changing It’s Name?
The social networking platform “Facebook” was the first one of its kind to attract millions of users. However, the owners of Facebook don’t want to keep the brand under the cage of “Social Media”. They want to explore and diverge the user perspective and speculations say it is going to be very good.
Next Tuesday, we will be reading about the new name of Facebook. Before the publication from Verge, the spokesperson of Facebook completely denied commenting on the news. He said, “Facebook does not comment on rumor or speculation.” It’s quite evident they wanted the news to light up the internet by concealing it as much as they can.
It is also being speculated that along with Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp will be changed too. Just like all the Google hands come under one umbrella of Alphabet, the same can happen with Whatsapp, Instagram, and Facebook.
The name change will highly impact all the Facebook-owned platforms. The change will come in the augmented reality spheres and will thin the line between the real and virtual worlds. The original idea is to evolve Facebook into a space where users “walk around and interact with one another in real time“.
Facebook has also announced that a group of 10,000 people will sit in Europe to create the very hyped multiverse. Along with the fact that it is going to bring new high-level technology to humans, we cannot forget that Facebook is trying to change its controversial reputation.
The fact that Facebook has always kept mum about all the hate-spreading has only made the new change more questionable. With the new multiverse change, will Facebook stop promoting hate-spreading?
Many ex-employees of Facebook have confirmed that all at the board of Facebook know that the platforms actively spread hate and violence. But they have failed to take any action towards it. Despite all the allegations, Facebook has never accepted its “misleading content”. It continuously argues that the apps does more good than harm.
That was all about the new Facebook name change that’s out there. If any more news comes by then we will keep updating you about it. Comment below on all your views about the breaking news.
