Steve Jobber, a principal at Davidson Kempner in London responsible for trading European stocks, is leaving the fund, according to people familiar with the matter.
The New York hedge fund had over $34 billion in assets under management as of 2020, with offices also in Dublin and Hong Kong.
The firm uses what it describes as a “bottom-up, fundamental method of investing with an event-driven focus and seeks to deploy capital in the best risk-adjusted investment opportunities”, it says on its website.

The fund is a creditor of AMC, the movie theater company that has attracted the attention of Reddit’s retail army of investors. AMC was negotiating with lenders including Davidson Kempner to expand the line of credit for its UK subsidiary Odeon Cinemas Group, according to a Wall Street Journal report on 6 January.
A Davidson Kempner spokesperson declined to comment.
