The whole world seems like an episode from The Walking Dead where isolations, lockdowns, quarantine are common. It has been more than a year since we first heard the name of covid-19 or coronavirus. All around the world people are getting infected and dying. This pandemic has taken everybody by surprise, without even the slightest hint of the danger ahead.

We all living in a state of frenzy. It would be hard to believe if I say that there are still a few countries in the world that are COVID-19 free. There are a few countries that have not yet reported a single Covid-19 case.

The UN recognizes 193 countries in the world and out of those 193 countries only 10 countries have not reported any case of COVIS- 19 as of November 21, 2020.

List of the countries that are COVID-19 free

  • North Korea KP
  • Turkmenistan TM
  • Samoa WS
  • Kiribati KI
  • Federated States of Micronesia FM
  • Tonga TO
  • Palau PW
  • Tuvalu TV

These are the countries that haven’t either reported any COVID-19 case as of November 21, 2020, or recovered all the COVID-19 patients.

Coronavirus reached the Solomon Islands on October 3, 2020. As per the latest news, the Island has 17 active cases with zero reported deaths and 5 recovered cases. Right now, the situation is not that bad when compared to the rest of the world. But the Solomon is no more a COVID-19 free place.

Another such example is the Marshall Islands. The Island was COVID-19 free before October 28, 2020. The Marshall Islands saw its first COVID-19 case on 28TH October. The Island is no more a COVID-19 free zone.

North Korea

north korea

Population: 25,778,816

North Korea was the first country to close its borders. They closed their borders on January 21st and haven’t opened since then. Like every country, North Korea is also following many strict measures for the people who are coming to their country. They are made to follow a month or two-month quarantine period.

The officials from North Korea claim to be a COVID-19 free country but this sounds a little suspicious considering North Korea is a neighboring company to China.

Turkmenistan, Asia

Turkmenistan, Asia

Population: 6,031,200

Turkmenistan is a country that is bordered by Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Iran, and Afghanistan and all these countries are reported with coronavirus infections. This makes it hard to believe that the country is COVID-19 free.

There are rumors that the word Coronavirus is banned in Turkmenistan, but this was merely a rumor. The country canceled and blocked all the flights to and from China in February.

Samoa, Oceania

Samoa, Oceania

Population: 198,413

The Island of Samoa closed its borders and travels in March and since then hasn’t reported any Coronavirus case. If you want to enter the Island, you are required to be a permanent resident. You can only enter the Island of Samoa after quarantining for a minimum of 14 days.

According to U.S. Embassy, you don’t need to wear a mask in public.

Kiribati, Oceania

Despite being a COVID-19 free zone, a state of public emergency has been declared from March 30, 2020. The country is allowing visitors from different countries to enter Kiribati after a period of Quarantine and proper testing.

Federated States of Micronesia, Oceania

Population: 115,030

The Federated States of Micronesia was very smart and quick in implementing travel bans. They banned travel to and from China in early February. This country is one of the few countries that is now COVID-19 free.

Population: 105,695

Tonga was also very quick in implementing the bans and closing its border. They made sure that nobody enters the country and every foreigner leaves the country as soon as possible. Tonga started this process in mid-July and started evacuating the country by following proper measures. They made sure that no more than 60 people travel on a flight. All the travelers were also provided with proper quarantine facilities.

A few people were suspected to have coronavirus but they tested negative.

Tonga is a COVID-19 free country and hasn’t reported any confirmed case. If you want to know more about this country, you can follow Zoe on Instagram @zoediscover.

Palau, Oceania

Palau is also one of the places that come to the same section of Covid-19 free places in the world. A few months back, there was a suspected case. After testing the results came out negative. There is currently no case in Palau.

Tuvalu, Oceania

Population: 11,793

Tuvalu is the least visited country in the world. Less than 200 tourists visit Tuvalu in a year. This is the main reason for the country to be COVID-19 free when the whole world is dying and suffering.

Just like Tuvalu, Nauru is also a very small country, that sees even fewer tourists. This country is so small that you can walk around the whole country in just one day. Nauru has, also, not reported any coronavirus cases since the outbreak of the pandemic.
