Arriani, age 9, had become obsessed with the app. She loved posting dance videos on TikTok, reports say. She was found dead on 26 February 2021 by her younger brother. She was found not breathing after trying to attempt the blackout challenge. She was a resident of Milwaukee.

The families blame TikTok for its lack of accountability. For the videos posted on the site and their adverse effects. TikTok spends millions of dollars to get the algorithm to push videos to users. A lawsuit is being filed against TikTok in an attempt to prevent any further incidents. This might make TikTok take accountability for the harm caused by the app.
