Better? Dentist puts smiles on faces with his ‘No more losers’ LED sign aimed at Dunbar – Must Read Alaska

Dr. Ken Wynne, a dentist with a practice in South Anchorage, got the attention of the Alaska Public Offices Commission with his LED building sign that proclaimed messages opposed to Forrest Dunbar for mayor, and in favor of Dave Bronson.

Wynne received a call from Tom Lucas of APOC, because the message on his sign could be a campaign violation, since it is on a commercial building, has no “paid for” disclaimer, and might be seen as a business contribution to a candidate. It could be, but then again, it might not be.

This afternoon, Wynne changed the LED message to one that he hopes will meet the requirements of APOC:

“NO MORE LOSERS FOR MAYOR! NO MORE LAWYERS OR POLITICIANS! TIME FOR A DECENT, MORAL PERSON FOR MAYOR — DAVE BRONSON.”

Whether that will satisfy APOC is hard to say. Wynne could become more cryptic with his signs and still get his message across.

The mayoral runoff has officially begun as voters in Anchorage report they have received their ballots today. They must be received by the Anchorage Election Office by May 11.

Dunbar is the progressive candidate running with support of the Alaska Democrats, while Bronson is the conservative candidate running with the support of Republicans. During the April 6 election, Bronson brought in 2 percent more of the vote than Dunbar, but not enough to avoid a runoff.
