Two people are dead and a third person suffered serious injuries following a crash in Phoenix on Saturday morning.
Sgt. Maggie Cox of the Phoenix Police Department said officers responded to the crash near Indian School Road and 31st Avenue at 11:21 a.m.
Cox said a 23-year-old man driving a Chrysler 300 was traveling west on Indian School Road when he collided with a Toyota Scion attempting to make a left turn onto 31st Avenue.
The man driving the Chrysler was speeding at the time of the crash, according to Cox.
Phoenix Fire Department personnel took Wilder Uriel Diaz-Gomez, the 27-year-old driver of the Toyota Scion, and Yahir Uriel-Diaz, the 18-year-old passenger, to the hospital. They were both pronounced dead at the hospital.
The driver of the Chrysler 300 was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and was still hospitalized as of Sunday afternoon.
He was evaluated for signs of impairment and none was found, Cox said.
The investigation is ongoing.
